Constance Bayne

Stillman College

Cultural events, museums and plays are all things that interest 19-year-old Constance Bayne from Nashville , Tenn. But what really interests the journalism student at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa , Ala. , is treating herself to a healthy dose of rest and relaxation.

Bayne said she can often be found having "me time" in her room at Stillman's Wynn Hall, where she listens to neo-soul music, soaks her feet and reads romance novels.

The self-proclaimed homebody said she prefers the solace of home rather than going out all the time like most of her peers. Bayne keeps to herself and spends a lot of time with her family.

"A lot of people think I'm stuck up," she said. "Once you get to know me, I am a down-to-earth person."

Bayne said she always knew she wanted to be a writer, but did not think she could make a career out of writing romance novels, such as the ones she loves to read. She does however, seek an outlet for expression in another genre she's passionate about - poetry.

"I like to write about my feelings in poetry," Bayne said.

Never forgetting her first love, Bayne said she chose journalism because she wants to write for a magazine someday, particularly because of her fondness for human interest stories.
